WHAT: Integrated foam sensor for occupant classification
INNOVATION: The multizone integrated foam sensor uses zonal e-field force sensing in the underside of a passenger seat to measure the force transferred through the seat foam. Using proprietary algorithms, the system can classify occupants without any of the disadvantages of current systems or the need for secondary sensors, even with the presence of heavier child seats.
